Today is 霜降(shuāng jiàng)!
Today is 霜降 (shuāng jiàng)or Frost’s Descent! It lands on the 9th month and 3rd day of the Chinese lunar calendar and it is the 18th term of the 24 agricultural calendar terms. During this time you might find that the weather has gotten a lot colder, autumn colors turn deeper, and wild geese fly overhead. Traditionally in China, this is a time to enjoy the fall sun, celebrate the blooming of chrysanthemums, eat persimmons, go hiking, and pay respects to the dead (similar to Diá de Los Muertos!). This is also a time where farmers take in their last harvests before the winter. In Seattle, the autumn vibes have definitely kicked in! How are you enjoying 霜降 today?
